Live events and performances across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
This is the final week of Festival Coast Live! and what a summer we have had on the Coast with the Most! From the delightful flowerpot people, spotted in Christchurch and Poole -performed by The Natural Theatre Company- to art workshops in the Star Tent organised by Arts2Educate; group dancing on the terraces by Pavilion Dance South West, singalong nights on the Big Screen and the many live bands and solo artists, we have seen it all this summer!
This week it is the grand finale as the Bournemouth Air Festival dominates. Running since 2008, this award winning 4-day event brings visitors and residents out in their thousands to enjoy the sights and sounds that is uniquely the Air Festival. We are in for a treat this year as the nation's favourite flying display team, the Red Arrows is back after a 2 year hiatus and will be appearing on each of the 4 days along with the other crowd favourite, the mighty Typhoon. There is plenty more to keep you entertained on land, sea and air and all can be discovered when you purchase the programme and download the companion Bournemouth Air Festival app.
We have other events happening this week too, including Poole Dream Machines, the popular Bike Night held on Poole Quay every Tuesday evening. The backdrop of the quay and harbour offers the perfect location and there is an excellent selection of waterside cafes, bars, restaurants, and food kiosks offering refreshment, many with bike night specials on their menus! Poole Quay will be buzzing again on Thursday night with the CityFibre Poole Quay Summer Fireworks, the last show of the 2021 season.
The Big Screen is continuing its residency in the Lower Gardens and is showing a full programme of family favourite films to finish off the summer, including The Little Mermaid, Cars 2 and Lilo & Stitch. After a long and busy day watching the Air Show why not sneak into the gardens and settle down to watch Back to the Future 3 or singalong with Grease on Saturday night while you wait for the last fireworks of the summer season?
Councillor Beverley Dunlop, BCP Council lead member for Festival Coast Live!, said:
“Festival Coast Live! has provided a fantastic summer of fun, just when everyone needed it. The eclectic mix of free entertainment and activities has given so many people the opportunity to get out and enjoy themselves, across the whole conurbation.
I want to thank all the performers and organisers who participated, and made it a tremendous success, with special thanks to BCP Events Team who have gone above and beyond in extremely challenging times by bringing together and promoting all that is best about events, festivals and outdoor performance."
